Today, we are going to talk about tweaking and overclocking our ATI  graphic cards, with this tool called ATI Tray Tools.

Now first thing that you need in order to use this product is obviously… ATI graphic card, after that we can play around with many cool features. For standard tweaks go to:

Now, here you have a few options, make sure you check the box Optimize Pixel Shader Code and also check both boxes at the bottom for Z compression. I usualy check the Geomety Instancing, which can fix textures in some games of applications that use 2D or 3D graphic engines, but it can also make it look worse, now it’s up to you. Now on the top, go the System tab and check all boxes there for the best performance.

After that go to Hardware/SMARTGART and make sure all of the combo boxes are set to ON. Navigate to Hardware/Overclocking Settings, here you can actually do some real overclocking, be careful start by increasing frequency of memory and core by 5 MHz, but after about 10 MHz increase be much more careful, it all depends on you graphic card type and you cooler in you machine. Now usualy graphic card core can’t be overclock half as much as memory, but remember, stay calm and overclock you card step by step, if you screen freeazes don’t panic, that is normal when overclocking card to much or it overheats.
